Property Description

The larger residence of a duplex, and designed with its own separate, private entrance, Villa Irini consists of two levels. The ground floor has a fully-equipped kitchen and living room while on the first floor are a sitting area, the three bedrooms and bathroom. Both the sitting area and two of the bedrooms, both double, have private terraces. The third bedroom has two single beds which can be combined into a double.

Local Attractions

Villa Irini is located seven kilometers (3.4 miles) from the town of Zakynthos, which offers a wide variety of cultural, shopping, and dining experiences. Virtually destroyed by an earthquake in 1953, the town was largely rebuilt, but beyond the modern buildings there is still a fascinating old Zakynthos to be explored, especially around the ruins of the great Venetian castle on the hill of Bohali, above the town. There is also a fine Byzantine Museum as well as the Solomos Museum, dedictaed to Dionysos Solomos, who wrote Greece's National Anthem.

Also worth a visit is the Roma Mansion, located on the seafront and open to the public thanks to the efforts of the Roma family. Built in the 17th c. and purchased in 1880 by Alexander Roma, President of the Greek Parliament, it is a rare surviving example of the architecture and furnishings of an aristocratic Zakynthian home.

Not to be missed is the Zakynthos National Marine Park, a beautiful nature preserve that aims to protect the nesting areas of the endangered sea turtle, Caretta Caretta, as well as the habitat of the monk seal, Monachus Monachus.

The beaches of Zakynthos are world-famous for their breadth and fine, white sand, with many choices ringing the island.
