Local Attractions
The house is located on the narrow neck of Skyros between two beaches. Two kilometers away is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches of the island, Kalamitsa. To the north is Achilli, from where Achilles is said to have departed to join the Trojan war. The port of Linaria is a five minute drive, while the main town of Chora is just 10 minutes away. Situated at the top of a steep hill, the town is crowned by a castle and picuresque neighborhoods. Its archaeological museum preserves an extensive record of the island's history including material from Palamidi, one of the most important coastal settlements of the prehistoric Aegean.
Skyros has a long tradition in crafts such as embroidery, wood carving and pottery, and it is possible to visit shops and workshops producing pottery as well as traditional houses. Skyros also offers magnificent beaches, walking and hiking trails, horseback riding, and pony riding for children.
